River be dammed Creator: Matt Keene

Matt Keene is an award-winning journalist that has written extensively on the Ocklawaha River, the Kirkpatrick Dam and other Florida environmental and water-related issues. He has over a decade of experience in web design and development, and has designed successful websites for political campaigns, non-profits, environmental organizations and news outlets. Keene's web development, reporting and new media capabilities have blended into a multimedia approach, helping to raise awareness about Florida's environmental issues. His projects have manifested into online platforms that attract thousands of visitors and positive reception.

Keene has also paddled the entire length of the Ocklawaha, Silver and St Johns rivers and thru-hiked both the Florida and Appalachian trails. He is a world-record holder as the first person to complete the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail. In total, he has paddled and hiked more than 5,500 expedition miles and spent more than 13 months in a tent. His adventures, minded towards advocacy, have been recorded online, further spreading an environmental and adventure-spirited ethic.

He feels a close affinity for Florida's waterways and is dedicated to using his skills and knowledge to raise awareness about the issues facing Florida's environment.
